Cooking Ex Optimizer is built around a simple principle: your cooking data, like your kitchen, is private. This policy describes what the app does and does not do with information.
None. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information, usage statistics, or telemetry. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers. The developer does not have access to anything you do in the app.
All temperatures, targets, variables, experiments, and outcomes are stored on your device using Apple's standard local storage (UserDefaults and Core Data). They are included in your iCloud device backup if you have one enabled, under Apple's standard end-to-end encrypted backup terms. They are never sent to a server operated by the developer.
Cooking Ex Optimizer can read temperatures off a thermometer or oven display using your camera. The camera is only activated when you explicitly open the camera-capture sheet from the Cooking tab. Frames are processed entirely on-device by Apple's Vision OCR; only the recognized digits are written to your reading list. No image, video, or recognized text is stored or transmitted off the device.
You can deny or revoke camera permission at any time from iOS Settings. The rest of the app remains fully functional.
You can manually export all your variables, experiments, and settings as a JSON file using the Settings tab. Where that file goes after export, and who you share it with, is entirely your choice; the app does not upload it anywhere.
The app is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy is updated, the new version will appear at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
