Logging in to Strava
Why do I have to log in to Strava?
Strava now shows GPS data only to logged-in users. Tap Log in and sign in on strava.com inside the app. Your password goes directly to Strava; the app never sees or stores it. Tap Log out to remove the login from the app. Want to look around first? Tap Demo in the top right corner of the start screen to explore six sample activities.
I use "Continue with Google". Does that work?
Yes. The whole Google sign-in stays inside the app's login screen and returns you to Strava there, even if you have the Strava app installed. If you end up in the Strava app or in Safari instead, switch back to Strava to Data: it checks again whether you are logged in when it becomes active. If it still does not work, tap Log out, then log in again with your Strava email and password.
The login page is blank or keeps loading
Check your internet connection, close the login screen and open it again. If Strava shows a captcha or asks you to verify your email, complete that step on the same screen. Strava outages also affect the app; you can check status.strava.com.
Activities
I can't open an activity
You can open your own activities and activities you are allowed to see on strava.com with your account. Activities that are private to someone else, or hidden by their privacy settings, can't be opened. Manual activities and indoor activities without GPS have no route to show or export.
It used to work, and now it doesn't
Strava may have changed its website. Please email us with a link to the activity; problems like this are fixed in an app update, so also check the App Store for a newer version of Strava to Data.
How do I see older activities?
Your activity list shows the newest first. Use Previous and Next at the bottom of the list to browse older pages, or paste a link to a specific activity.
Export
Where do exported files go?
Tap Export GPX or Export CSV, check the preview, then use the share button to save to Files, AirDrop it or open it in another app, or the copy button to copy the text. Export is always free and always includes the full activity.
What is in the GPX and CSV files?
GPX contains the track with coordinates, elevation and time. CSV contains time, distance, latitude, longitude and elevation for every point, ready for Numbers, Excel or your own analysis.
Heart rate from Apple Health
How do I add heart rate from Apple Health?
If an activity on Strava has no heart rate, but your Apple Watch or chest strap saved heart rate to Apple Health at the same time, tap Analysis → Get heart rate from Apple Health. The app reads heart rate only (read-only), uses it on your iPhone for the analysis and does not save it.
It says no heart rate was found
The app needs a continuous recording during the activity (a workout), not just occasional background readings. Also check that access is allowed in the Health app (Profile → Apps → Strava to Data) or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Strava to Data Pro and subscriptions
What is free, and what does Pro add?
Free: GPX and CSV export of the full activity, map, stats, elevation profile, GPS points, demo mode, and every report for the first 10 minutes of any activity (activities of 10 minutes or less are fully free). Pro: all reports and the AI training analysis prompt for the full length of every activity. Pro costs $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and both plans start with a 2-week free trial. Prices may vary by country.
How do I restore my purchase?
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe, then open Your profile in the app and tap Restore Purchases under Subscription. The same button is also on the Pro screen. This also works on a new iPhone. There is no separate account with us.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Strava to Data. You can also get there from the app: Your profile → Manage Subscription. There you can switch between monthly and yearly or tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
How does the free trial work?
Both plans, monthly and yearly, start with a 2-week free trial with full access to Pro. Apple gives one free trial per Apple Account (Apple ID) for Strava to Data Pro, so if you have already used a free trial for it, the plan starts right away at its normal price. The Pro screen in the app shows whether a trial is available before you subscribe. If you allow notifications, the app reminds you 3 days and 1 day before the trial ends. To cancel, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Strava to Data (or Your profile → Manage Subscription in the app) and tap Cancel Subscription at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You then pay nothing and keep Pro until the trial ends. If you don't cancel, the plan you chose starts and is charged to your Apple Account when the trial ends. If you buy a subscription during the trial, the rest of the trial ends.
Why does the app ask to send notifications?
Only to remind you before a free trial ends. The app asks once, right after you start a trial, never when you open it. If you allow it, you get two reminders on your iPhone: 3 days and 1 day before the trial ends. They are local notifications set up on your iPhone; nothing is sent to the developer. If you cancel, the reminders are removed the next time you open the app. You can turn notifications on or off at any time in Settings → Notifications → Strava to Data.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The developer can't issue refunds directly.
